Description
Winery: Meum
Date of establishment: 2016
Location: Loce, Stajerska, Podravje
Winemaker: A few years ago, Jure Brumec (a fourth-generation winemaker) decided to leave the renowned winery where he worked to start his own, called Meum. He mainly grows pinot noir and chardonnay, grapes that the Carthusian monks introduced in this region in the 12th century.
Type: Dry red · 100% pinot noir · 12.5% alcohol
Vinification: The vinification is similar to that of pinot noir in Burgundy, except that Jure lets the wine macerate (contact with the skins) a little longer in open barrels. The wine is aged for two years in used Burgundy barriques.
Tasting notes: This distinctive light red pinot noir is noticeably transparent. There are aromas of ripe red fruit, a delicate woody note and powerful tannins (which will certainly round off further).
Food pairing: Excellent with red meat, roast beef, game fowl or veal dishes with a rich, creamy sauce. Can also be served lightly chilled.
