Winemaker: This winery, which is run by Borut Blazic, is situated in the far west corner of Slovenia, on the border with Italy. Tucked away between the mountains and the sea, the winery has all it takes to grow top-notch grapes. Most of the Blazic vineyards are situated in Slovenia, barring a small number of vineyards across the border, in Italy. All Blazic wines are produced according to the KOPOP method, an organic farming programme with support from the Slovenian authorities. This means that the grapes are grown with the greatest respect for nature. No pesticides or fertilisers are used and the grapes are harvested manually.

Type: Dry orange · 100% rebula · 12.5% alcohol

Vinification: After macerating (contact with the skins) for 3 days, natural fermentation occurs without added yeasts or temperature control. The wine is then aged 3 years in used oak barrels. The unfiltered wine is bottled in November.

Tasting notes: A rich, deep golden wine with intense aromas of ripe fruit, herbs and dried flowers. Elegant mouthfeel with moderate acidity, balanced minerality and a harmonious finish.

Food pairing: This wine comes into its own when paired with strong flavours, e.g. dishes with lamb, pork, legumes, whole-wheat pasta, polenta, mushrooms and pronounced tropical spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom).
