Description
Winery: Meum
Date of establishment: 2016
Location: Loce, Stajerska, Podravje
Winemaker: A few years ago, Jure Brumec (a fourth-generation winemaker) decided to leave the renowned winery where he worked to start his own, called Meum. He mainly grows pinot noir and chardonnay, grapes that the Carthusian monks introduced in this region in the 12th century.
Type: Dry red · 50% pinot noir, 50% syrah · 12.5% alcohol
Vinification: The wine is first macerated (contact with the skins) and fermented in open barrels. The pressing is followed by further ageing in used wooden barrels for 2 years.
Tasting notes: A cherry-red, noticeably transparent wine with notes of cherry, red fruit, spice, elegant wood, white pepper and bay leaf. Combines the aromas of pinot noir with the spice of syrah for a surprising, powerful result. In short, an elegant, nicely balanced red blend.
Food pairing: Pairs beautifully with meat dishes, e.g. veal, all types of red meat or even game.
