Winemaker: The Krapez Winery was founded by Josef Krapez at the beginning of the 20th century. What began as part of a cooperative had 50 years later, under the management of his son Josef Junior, developed into an independent, mature winery that follows its own approach. In the 1990s, the third generation of the Krapez family went a step further, bottling their own wine. Today the winery is reaping the fruits of this quest of several years for quality and unicity.
Type: Dry white · 100% zelen (= Slovenian for ‘green’) · 11.5% alcohol
Vinification: Cold maceration (contact with the skins) for 12 hours, followed by (temperature-controlled) fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine spends another 6 months ageing in the same stainless-steel tanks.
Tasting notes: A lemon-yellow white wine, with a fresh aroma and hints of lemon, green apple and fresh herbs. An elegant wine with balanced acidity.
Food pairing: The perfect wine for pre-dinner drinks, with some light tapas, salads, smoked eel and fresh cheese.
